I'll have more pictures today. The garden is growing by leaps and bounds. Today I will pick our first mess of Kentucky wonder green beans. They are so pretty. Tomatoes are turning red which means biscuits and tomatoes, my favorite. The purple hull peas are really neat watching how they grow, the limas that we pulled up and replanted are starting to flower. It's all just so exciting. Bought my pressure canner, several cookbooks for instruction and ideas (thanks CJ for all the suggestions) and have stocked up on cans so I guess I'm ready. Nothing is better than homegrown veggies in the dead of winter when nothing tastes good from the grocery store.
for now, a few pictures from last week in the garden
do you see the blooms...
now they are nice long green beans ready to be cooked...I'll show you when I pick them..
these are the puple hull peas
this little white flower becomes the pea pod...pretty neat when it turns brown and falls off..
carrot tops are growing nicely, and the limas are starting to run, remember these are from last week, the limas are getting little flowers now. I'll take pics today.
I leave you with a couple pictures of our Kiwi. We planted this 3 years ago. Haven't harvested Kiwi yet, last year we had one the size of a thimble. This year we have seen 2 so far and they are a little bigger. If you know anyone who grows Kiwi, get me some growing hints.
3 year old vine
do you see the little Kiwi? It has a long way to go before you could eat it.
Well, I'm off to take more pictures, come back soon and see how this garden is growing.
In the meantime, go and have some fun today!
