It's been a long time and many things have passed through this life but one of the sweetest was Kit. She came to live with us around October 2008 and was a devoted friend and loyal to our family. We used to say she patroled our yard with a little yellow hard hat on and neon vest. This week Kit went to the Rainbow bridge. We will always remember her and miss her.
It's an overcast day with the possibility of storms this evening. Things around the yard are blooming and the garden is just about ready to go into the ground. As usual, because of issues and weather it will go into the ground a little bit later than normal but better late than never, I say.
I'm home today preparing for a Colonostomy tomorrow so if you've had one before you know I'm living on liquids until the magic hour to start drinking my gallon of ick. Hope it will go better this time and I'm able to endure. Got too, no choice.
Mother's Day was quiet but enjoyable. Matthew presented me with a wonderful Inkle Loom which he made for me. I'm anxious to try it out. Must watch a few more videos before warping it. Supposed to take an hour.
They say what you do on the first day of the new year you'll do all year. I hope so. The towel is for a friend and the shawlette is my long last finish of Sheldon & Leonard. Took over a year because I knit slow and have hand problems. Just got over hand surgery in late October. Love the hand painted String Theory yarn. Spruce head is the color. Merino, cashmere, nylon. At least it's a finish even if not perfect.
One finish to show for 2013. I am going to sew this next year and this was a gift for a friend . I think it turned out pretty nice.
It's the end of 2013. This year has zoomed by faster than any I have ever thought of in years past. I found this quote on a blog I read and it's so true. This year has been a hard one for our family with 3 surgeries and one tough one cancelled due to prayers from others. It's been a good year for many things most of all the time that Ray and Matthew got to be together each recovering from shoulder surgery. My hand surgery has healed and I'm able to knit again. I don't make resolutions but my prayer for the coming year is that I will do more knitting, sewing and crafting. Also that I will post here. Looking back at the things I've posted years ago is so interesting and enjoyable.
Off to get ready for work but if anyone reads this I pray you will have a blessed day.
Phil did not see his shadow. No wonder, it's cold and I'm sure PA got snow. It's 5:45 p.m. and it just started to snow very lightly. I love snow but not the cold winter wind. BRRRR!
I intend to try and show some of the few things I attempt to make. Bought 3 great books from Amazon. All Crochet but they are great, nice pictures and great instruction. Tried two blocks with some dishcloth cotton.
Now I'm off to fix dinner.
Do one something fun today just for you!
Where does the time go? It is 2013 and over half gone. I've been around but had some bad days and then there were the good days. Life comes and you just have to keep going.
I love to make stuff. Needlework, knitting, quilting, crocheting, you name it and I want to make it. Problem is my neck. I have cervical stenosis and with that comes the issue that if I do anything too long my neck hurts. Reading or looking at my ipad, cell phone. The way you hold your head, it does it just right to me. I'll hurt for a day. So I don't do anything fast anymore. Not that I was ever burning the roads fast.
But I have a finish. I hope to do one finish a month and post it here so that I will have some accountability. I need that. Otherwise, I'll just sit and while the day away dreaming of some fun thing or warm place.
so, this is "Winter Friends". Bought the pattern and the wonderful frame from a needlework shop in Williamsburg, VA "Haus Triol".
Lets see what I can get made next.
Where has the time gone...
It's September 2011 and where oh where has the time gone? My summer has been filled with a lot of sadness as two friends passed away from cancer, horrible cancer. Norma Campbell died on July 2nd and Gene Armantrout went to be with his Heavenly Father on August 10th. Both Norma and Gene were believers of Jesus Christ and are in heaven, both left loving families and both had horrible cancers but fought as good a fight as anyone could have. I had not been close to Norma for years but saw Gene most days in the backyard garden that he loved so dearly. Ray and I miss him.
I'm a quilt pattern junkie. Add stitchery and you got me. There is a new one out there that you might not have heard of yet. Leanna Green from Australia has designed a really cute BOM and you get the designs each month from the Homespun Magazine website. The center block comes in issue 12.4 of the Homespun magazine but after that purchase you get all the blocks free that go around the center. It's really cute and should be fun to do. Check it out, you'll love it.
